Rovers U18s recorded their second victory in this season’s Gothia Cup with a 3-1 scoreline against Slovakian side MSK Zilina.

Goals from Chris Whincop, Alex Peterson and Joshua Meade secured the victory ahead of their game against Gais, last season’s overall winners, tomorrow.

Head of Youth Paul Wilson spoke of his delight for the team after another good performance.

‘We were excellent,’ he said

‘I’m so pleased with the way they played, they just beat a really good side, we need a draw now, against the team that won it last season, to progress.’

The game against Gais will be shown live on Gothia TV.

The U16s lost their second game of the competition after recording an 8-0 win over Brazilian side Amoritas yesterday.

A dubious penalty was awarded to Swedish side Tyreso FF, which proved to be the only goal of the goal.

‘The boys were excellent and didn’t deserved to lose,’ said Wilson

‘They will regroup now any prepare for the next game which is against Roanoake Stars USA.’
