Assistant Manager Brian Carey spoke to Rovers Player ahead of the visit of Scunthorpe United this weekend

Carey revealed that the start Rovers have had to the season has given the club a solid platform to build on, although he acknowledged the fact that it is a long season and there is still a lot of work to be done.

“We’ve done ok so far,” he said

“We give ourselves a solid base going forward but we’ve still got loads to do, we will keep improving as a squad.

“We’ve got good people in the dressing room, their attitude has been really good they all want to improve and do well. We’ve still got a lot to do, we haven’t done anything yet; we’re fourth in the league but we need to push on.

“When you’ve got a new group together you’re never sure how it’s going to go so we’re happy, to an extent, with how it’s going

Carey admitted that although it will be a tough game, it’s a game that we need to win.

“We need to win,” he said

“I saw quite a bit of Scunthorpe under Alan Knill; they played some fantastic football and weren’t that far away from getting some results and turning it around. They made the change and brought back Brian Laws who is really experienced and knows what he’s doing so it will be a tough game.

“These sorts of games are really entertaining and there’s should be a great atmosphere.”
