Manager Dean Saunders spoke to Rovers player ahead of the second meeting with Oldham Athletic in a week.
The game this weekend see’s Rovers travel to Boundray Park to face the Latics in the 2nd Round of the FA Cup with Budweiser and Dean has re-iterated the importance of the tie and how it can help the club.
“It’s a big game for us on Saturday,” he said
“We beat Bradford Park Avenue, which was a bit of a banana skin tie for us, and the reward was Oldham in this round but the rewards after this round could be massive for us.
“It’s really important for the players and their careers, aswell as the club, because if we get a plumb draw in the next round, they get a chance to show everybody live on TV how good a team they are - you have to earn them sorts of draws by beating teams like Oldham.
“Confidence is high at the minute, we’re expecting to win games when we go out, which is half the battle. Complacency is obviously something that I have to guard against – where you think that you can just turn up and win without doing all the things that we have been doing.
“The players have done brilliantly and have done everything that I’ve asked them to do. I’ve not had a problem with any of them, they’re all on side and there is a great team spirit amongst them which you can see on the pitch.
Dean will be without one of the stand out performers this season, in the shape of David Cotterill after his fifth booking of the season in the previous game, however the Rovers boss admitted that he rather David missed this game than a game in the league.
“It’s a blow but at least it’s not a league game,” said Saunders
“I’d rather have David miss a cup game than a league game; I’d, obviously rather he didn’t have to miss any games with him being quite fresh having missed two or three games already not to mention the form he is in.”
