Manager Dean Saunders spoke to Rovers Player ahead of the visit of Bradford Park Avenue in the FA Cup with Budweiser.
Dean, a winner of the competition in his playing days, revealed that he will be approaching the game as if it was a league game.
‘We will treat the game as a normal league game but if there are any players carrying knocks I will leave them out and give somebody else the chance to play.
‘I would rather us be playing then not; then have to go into the Crewe game not having played for ten days.
‘We will be at full strength; we can make it an easy afternoon or we can make it a difficult afternoon depending on our mentality going into the game.
‘Bradford have got some good players that have played higher up and they have got a formula which has seen them do well in the league this year. They played 4-5-1 in a lot of their games and have a big centre forward who gets goals.
‘If we play the best we can and we go out there with the right mentality we could win the game comfortably.
‘I’ve been in football a long time and I’ve been involved in too many games like this that go wrong – sometimes the FA Cup springs surprises and you play against teams who do something completely different to what you normally get on a Saturday.
‘I remember watching Charlton playing Northwich Victoria in the FA Cup and they just got absolutely battered. Northwich banged the ball in behind the back four, took long throws, lumped free-kicks into the box – it was something Charlton hadn’t come up against so it caught them out.
‘We have to be aware that these teams will do something different; they will play with free spirit because they have nothing to lose - It’s the magic of the FA Cup where teams get to showcase their talent on a bigger stage.’
