When Rovers face Scunthorpe United at the Keepmoat Stadium on the 24th November they will be looking to uphold an unbeaten five-year record in home and away games against the team from along the M180.
The overall head-to-head record between the two teams sees Rovers with 20 victories, the Iron with 16 and the points have been shared on 19 occasions along with one cup stalemate back in the early 1980’s. In games played at home, against the Iron, Rovers have amassed an impressive twelve victories over their rivals in the League as well as a League Cup victory.
If past records have any influence on the result you could say that Rovers will be the favourites in a fixture that they haven’t lost on home soil in the League for almost 15 years.
You have to go back to 30th January 1998 for the last time the visitors managed to taste victory in the fixture. Adie Mike had given Rovers an early lead before David D’Auria equalised, Stephen Housham snatched victory for Scunthorpe with just eight minutes remaining.
However, since then it has been firmly advantage Doncaster Rovers with four wins and one draw being played out in front of our supporters. Last time out against the Iron at the Keepmoat brought an impressive 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Billy Sharp, James Hayter and Joseph Mills.
