Rovers face Johnstone’s Paint Trophy holders Chesterfield, in the second round of the competition, tonight (7pm kick off),
The game marks Rovers first in the JPT since promotion to the Championship after receiving a bye in the first round.
Manager Dean Saunders revealed that his team will go out onto the pitch with one focus, winning the game.
‘We try to win every game,’ he said
‘You have got to go into every game with pride and we will do going into tonight’s game. We’re playing against the current holders so they’re going to give us a good game.
‘They will come here wanting to win the game. They’ve got Tommy Wright in charge, with Mark Crossley helping him, and that pair will bring lots of experience to the team along with players such as Jack Lester and Mark Richards upfront who will also get them goals – we don’t take anybody lightly so we’ve prepared for the game exactly the same as we would for a league game.
‘They [Chesterfield] had a bad start to the season and lost their manager, since then they have had a revival and picked up some good results. They’ve got good players all around the park but sometimes it just takes time for them to gel – it’s not going to be an easy game for us so we will have to be at our best to win.
‘We’ve prepared well for the game, and the players know what they need to do with and without the ball - I will make some changes from the team that played on Saturday.’
