Dean On Stevenage Test

21 September 2012

Rovers face Stevenage on Saturday, a side who are flying high in second position in League One.

Manager Dean Saunders is all aware of the threat the visitors will pose and has labelled the game as ‘the toughest of the season’.

‘We’re in the middle of a busy period,’ he said

‘We’ve played Colchester and Sheffield United now we have got Stevenage on Saturday and then Norwich in the cup which is a great game for the lads - we’ve got nothing to lose in that game against a Premier League club.

‘All the focus is on Stevenage now; we have got to get the right team on the pitch tomorrow.

‘Stevenage have done brilliant after losing so many players in the closed season. It’s a credit to everybody at the club how they have started the season after losing influential players.

‘The way they have started doesn’t surprise me, the spirit at the club has taken them from the Conference right the way through to way they are now.

‘Everybody thinks that they launch it forward because they are big and physical, they are big and strong but they play football too.

‘I think we need to play really well and have luck on our side to get a result against them on Saturday – it’s going to be a tough game for us probably the toughest of the season.’
