Conditions played their part in the game both team’s finding it difficult to get a foothold in the driving rain.

Chances were limited up until the fifteenth minute when Jake McCormick saw his goal bound header cleared off the line by the City defence.

The next piece of goal mouth action came on 35 minutes when Jordan Ball received the ball on the edge of the area before turning and firing a shot towards the York goal. The sides went in at the break with the scores level.

York started the second half brightly, and it was the away side who took the lead on 58 minutes when the City forward won the ball in an advance position and slotted passed Jon Maxted in goal.

It took Rovers just 3 minutes to get back on level terms, Alex Peterson feeding the trialist forward to slot in after the York keeper fumbled.
