Rovers will host Chesterfield in the second round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy
After being given a bye in the first round of the competition, Rovers will now face Chesterfield at the Keepmoat Stadium.Rovers, who have not played in the competition since promotion to the Championship in 2008, were winners of the trophy in a dramatic game at the Millennium Stadium six seasons ago.
Former Rovers defender Sam Hird will make his return to the Keepmoat Stadium as an opposition player. Hird, who spent many years in Doncaster, is now captain of Chesterfield and will be looking to make it a happy return to his old stomping ground.
