Brown: Ninety Minute Season

22 April 2013

Chris Brown spoke to Rovers Player after Saturday's defeat at the hands of Notts County.

The result means Rovers now need just one point at Griffin Park on Saturday to secure promotion to the Championship.

Brown was left disappointed at the result and admitted that the team as a whole didn’t start the game well.

“We’re all disappointed,” he said

“We didn’t get out of the traps very well at all. The first ten minutes we let them [Notts County] get a foot hold in the game and then obviously conceded. It was a great goal but it knocked the stuffing out of us.

“If we’d stayed in the game at 0-0 we knew we have got the players to knick a goal.

“Credit to the lads second half they were outstanding. We pressed really well high up the pitch but it just didn’t seem to fall for us in the box; similar to Coventry and Bury second half.

“In the first half I think we had a good five minutes after they scored, but then we went back to being sloppy again.

“It was only in the second half that we came out and got on the front foot putting them under pressure and commanding all over the pitch it’s just disappointing it wasn’t enough.

“It was disappointing for the fans; they were brilliant, they got behind us from the kickoff. We have got to go and do it for them on Saturday against Brentford. There will be a great following down there and we’ve always bounced back from a defeat with a win and a performance – we need the biggest performance of the season on Saturday.

“It’s a ninety minute season now and these are the sorts of games you want to be playing in as a player. If you had given us the chance at the beginning of the season, to go to Brentford to get a result and get promoted, we would have taken it.

“We’ve got to make sure that we have a good week in training, stick together. We’re focused on winning the game we’ve all got to stick together and make sure that we put in a performance.”
