Flynn: It Was A Pivotal Win

13 April 2013

Brian Flynn spoke to Rovers Player after his side’s 2-1 victory at Gresty Road and said that the most important thing now is to win games and that this afternoon’s victory was pivotal.

Although the game didn’t start well for Rovers, Brian admitted that the players’ desire to win helped secure the points.

“It was a crazy and silly game because our play was littered by mistakes,” he said

“A lot of hard work and a lot of desire to improve the situation payed off for us but it wasn’t pretty I know that.

“The most important thing is winning and at this stage it was a pivotal win for us today; we can’t expect others to do us favours. We’ve got to think that they will win all their games and we have to do the same.

“The squad as a whole believe that they can win when they go behind, we’ve shown that again today we went behind, it was a bad goal at a bad time for us as well, but the players believe that they can win games from difficult situations.

“Everytime Billy [Paynter] comes on he gets chances and he was just itching to get on and help the situation.

“When you are challenging at the top end for promotion you need a squad with a good bench and we’ve got that as well.

“We’ve got 180 minutes of football, that’s all that’s left, to rubber stamp what we have done all season. We just need to keep doing the good things, people will make mistakes but if you make you have to cover it up.

“Our ability will shine through, I’ve said it all along we are the best team in the league and we’ll keep proving it.”
