Flynn: We Have To Recover And We Will

10 April 2013

Brian Flynn told Rovers Player that Rovers had to recover from last night’s performance against Carlisle United and resume normal service against Crewe on Saturday.

“We weren’t as good as we have been in the last two games,” he said

“I thought we started the game really strongly and it looked as if we were carrying on from the weekend but gradually Carlisle got a foothold in the game. They had loads of energy and mobility and all credit to them they stopped us playing.

“The deflected free kick was unfortunate and then to concede a breakaway goal late on in the game made the defeat look worse than it actually was.

“We had chances ourselves, Rob [Jones] had a big chance towards the end – it was one of those unexpected off nights but it’s not the end of the world.

“We will regroup and look at it on Thursday, the next 24hrs are going to be important; we have to recover and we will.

“We’re in exactly the same position as we were before the game, nothing has changed we are still top of the league.

“After the performances against Swindon and Tranmere I keep hearing people say that we will have the cup at home to Notts County; we haven’t done it yet! Yes it’s nice to look forward to something but you can’t assume you are going to get it, you have got to work hard for it and the boys have worked hard for it and they won’t let it slip.”
