Communications Restructure

31 August 2013

As the transfer window ends, off the field Doncaster Rovers are also making changes to their squad following a departmental restructure.

The clubs media and marketing departments have been combined to create a single communications team, creating an extra job role as part of the process.

The new look communications department will be headed up by long standing member of the clubs marketing team, Shaun Lockwood, who has been named as Communications Manager and will oversee a team of four members of staff.

The new look communications team includes press officer Steve Uttley, media executive Masroor Ahmed, marketing executive Jade Sims and a communication assistant.

Shaun, aged 30, has played a pivotal role in spearheading the In Rovers We Trust project and is looking forward to his new challenge at the club, which will see him take overall responsibility for the clubs website, match day programme and social media channels.

He said: “I am delighted to have been appointed in my new role at Rovers and am looking forward to the challenge ahead.”

“I am particularly proud of my involvement with the In Rovers We Trust project, which is now seen as best practice across the football league.  In Rovers We Trust has already set the foundations for improving the clubs communication channels by creating an open dialogue with supporters.  We now need to build on that and ensure our club communications meet the fans needs. One of the first priorities will be to ensure we generate better content for the club website, with an increased number of player features and better information sharing.”

“We are currently recruiting for a communications assistant who will work within the communications department assisting with marketing, PR, digital and social media activities. The role will be initially focused on administrative duties and there will be opportunities to grow and take on additional responsibilities across the department.

“It is an exciting time for the club as we are in a great position both on and off the pitch to move forward and maximise a wide range of opportunities.”

Gavin Baldwin, Chief Executive of Doncaster Rovers FC added: “Shaun is a very valued member of the team and has a wide range of communications experience. I am sure he will do very well in his role and I wish him all best.

“The restructure of the communications team will further strengthen how we engage with our supporters and wider audience.”
