A very wet night greeted Rovers the last time they visited the Valley on March 3rd in the 2008-09 season.
Rain lashed across the Valley as 20,815 fans packed the stands for the Championship game. Rovers needed the points as they battled stay out of the relegation spots with Charlton in the same fight.
The fixture was a real six pointer but good football would be hard to come by that was until James Coppinger curled a shot in the top corner in the 50th minutes to give Rovers the lead.
Then, just as Charlton thought that they could go on and get the win, Rob Styles awarded Rovers a penalty after Richie Wellens was upended in the penalty area. Brian Stock stepped up to score the spot kick and send the Rovers fans home happy.
Coppinger celebrated in front of the Rovers fans in the driving rain sending the away support into raptures . Charlton forced themselves back in the game when Nicky Bailey equalised on 73 minutes.
