PD: Freedom To Enjoy The Game

20 August 2013

Manager Paul Dickov spoke to Rovers Player ahead of the game against Wigan Athletic this evening and he revealed his side will travel to the DW Stadium full of confidence.

Rovers recorded their first victory of the season last Friday, and Paul admitted that the result means that his side can go into this evening’s game with confidence and can play with freedom.

“I’m expecting a tough game,” he said

“Owen [Coyle] is a top manager and he’s got a lot of top players at his disposal. We know that at times we might be under pressure, but we also know that we have the confidence to go there and play our style of football as well.

“What the win against Blackburn does is give us the opportunity and the freedom to go to Wigan and enjoy the game.

“When you go through their squad list you will see that they’re all top quality players. That is fantastic for us it’s what playing football is all about testing yourself against the best - they certainly are one of the best in our division.

“If we were going there not having picked up the points we might have been apprehensive however we can now go there full of belief.”

“It’s a home game for them and they will want to perform in front of their fans but as I said getting the three points against Blackburn gives us a little bit of freedom.

“We had them watched on Saturday and although they were down to ten men they were very unlucky to lose the game.
