PD: We Have To Be At Our Best

29 August 2013

Paul Dickov told Rovers Player that he believes his side will have to be at their best if they are to overcome Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth on Saturday.

Bournemouth have had an inconsistent start to their Sky Bet Championship campaign with Howe’s side recording home victories against Charlton Athletic and Wigan Athletic however on the road it has been a completely different story.

On their travels The Cherries have shipped eleven goals, however Paul still believes that his side need to be at their very best on Saturday.

“Eddie Howe’s teams always play good football, they want to try and play in the right way,” he said.

“I know that their results have been a little bit inconsistent but the one thing we will have to be is at our best because if we’re not they’ve got players that can hurt teams.

“It’s a game we are looking forward to – we need to get the other night out of our system as soon as we can. You have to react and you have to bounce back when you have had a defeat and there’s no better place to do that then a home game.”

Paul was very complimentary of the way his opposite number, Eddie Howe, has helped Bournemouth progress.

“He got them promoted after going on a fantastic run last year. They’ve had two wins from four games so far, take away the two defeats they have suffered, they’ve had a decent start - as I have said we are going to have to be at our best to get a result on Saturday.”

When asked whether our opponents will be under pressure to get a result on Saturday Paul added: “There’s pressure on you in every game you play no matter who the opposition is.

“We want to put pressure on ourselves because we want to test ourselves. I don’t think you can look too much into the defeats that they have had. They took the beating they got at Watford and went out and beat Wigan so that shows you in this league anything can happen.

“We have had them scouted three or four times already this season so we will know what to expect but we also know that we have to be at it.

“It’s a game I’m looking forward to purely because its a game I want to win."

Tickets for the game are still available and can be purchased from the Keepmaot Stadium Ticket office or via the Ticket Hotline on 01302 762576.
