Turnbull Eager To Get Started

1 August 2013

New signing Ross Turnbull spoke exclusively to doncasterroversfc.co.uk upon signing for the club and spoke about his anticipation for the coming season.

After spending the past four seasons at Chelsea, Ross signed for Paul Dickov’s side in search of first team football and he admitted that he is looking forward to the challenge the ahead.

“I had been down at Cantley Park on Monday and Tuesday to train and then on Tuesday evening I got a phone call to say that the club would like to sign me, which was great news,” he said

“It all got sorted yesterday [Wednesday] and I’m delighted to have signed my contract today. I’m really looking forward to my future at Doncaster Rovers Football Club.

“It’s different from the past few seasons being at Chelsea because they are one of the biggest clubs in the world. I’ve enjoyed my time here and the lads are great so I’m looking forward to playing some football, which I didn’t get to do an awful lot of at Chelsea.

“For me Petr Cech is the best goalkeeper in the world and I learnt an awful lot off of him - I didn’t play as much as I would’ve liked but hopefully I can do that this season at Doncaster.

“I gained a lot of experience from the four years I spent at Chelsea and even at Middlesbrough I played in the Premier League so I’ve got to bring that into this squad as well.

“It’s going to be interesting, it’s a tough league and I’m really looking forward to the challenge.

“We’ve got to build on the momentum from last season; it’s important that we get off to a good start and use that momentum from last year and carry that through the season.”

Ross will be available for selection on Saturday as Rovers open their Championship campaign at Keepmoat Stadium against Blackpool.
