Welcome Home Glynn Snodin & Tim Ryan

6 August 2013

On Sunday 11th August two of the best left backs to have worn the DRFC shirt will take the field to raise money for the Eve Merton trust at the Keepmoat Stadium.

If you asked any football fan about Glyn Snodin then they would instantly know who he is, ask any Rovers fan who Tim Ryan was and I’m sure they would agree he was every bit a legend Snodin was....they without doubt two legends of the club and adored by the fans.

Glyn played for Doncaster Rovers between 1977-1985 amassing 309 appearances and scoring an incredible 59 goals an incredible scoring record for a fullback.

Glyn also played for Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday, Oldham, Rotherham, Hearts and Barnsley but it was at Doncaster Rovers where he played the majority of his football league games (498 in total)

With his attacking style, accurate crossing and his connection to Doncaster, Glyn was adored by the rovers faithful and will always be a fans favourite to many rovers fans.

Tim Ryan played for Doncaster in two separate periods, playing 27 games between 1996-1997 and after a three years stint at Southport, Tim ‘came home’ and played a further 181 games for Donny between 2000-2006 scoring 6 goals.

Loved by the fans and hated by the opposition for his tough tackling and no nonsense defending, Tim was a cult hero in the terraces at Belle View, whenever he got the ball within a 30 yard radius of the opposition goal, the sound of ‘shooooooooooooooot’ could be heard all the way down the M18 such was the ferocity of his shots.

It’s surprising Tim only managed 6 goals due to his strike, however every goal he scored was one the Donny faithful would never forget.

Although Tim never made it to the ‘bright lights’ Glyn Snodin did, if you ask any DRFC fan from the last 30 years who their favourite left back is, Tim & Glyn would be the top two names, so sit back and enjoy seeing why these two will always be DRFC ‘Legends’.

Come and welcome Glynn & Tim back to Rovers and enjoy the game whilst giving your support to this great Doncaster Cancer Charity, The Eve Merton Dreams Trust reg:1147191.
