It was good news this week at Keepmoat Stadium as Doncaster Rovers were shortlisted for the Football League Awards Family Club of the Year.
This is only the second time the club have made the short list at these awards ceremony (the first time was for the Rovers Roadshow Marketing Campaign in 2011) and are the only club in the North of England to have made the shortlist for this particular award.
Rovers have worked hard as part of the ‘In Rovers We Trust’ project to make the club a family orientated experience, where fans can enjoy a matchday atmosphere that goes beyond the 90 minutes of the match.
Gavin Baldwin: “This is a great achievement and it shows that we are moving the club in the right direction. We are working hard to make this a club that families want to be part of and feel valued. We are one of only nine clubs to have won the Football League Family Excellence Award every year since it was created, which is a tremendous achievement in its own right.”
Richard Heaselgrave, Chief Commercial Officer at The Football League, said: “The Football League Awards are a great way to celebrate the work that goes on behind the scenes at each club, as well as the action that has taken place on the pitch each week.
“To make these shortlists is a real achievement, bearing in mind how many and the quality of the entries we’ve had once again. I would like to wish all those nominated the best of luck and we look forward to announcing the winners on the evening.”
The shortlists were drawn up by a panel of judges on 5th February 2013, following a stringent assessment process. Judges included influential members of the media, sports industry and representatives of The Football League and its official partners.
