Donny Dog's International Debut

6 February 2013

Rovers’ well-loved mascot Donny Dog will be making his international debut tonight as he transforms in to an England Lion for the international against Brazil.

Donny Dog was invited by the FA to be one of the three lions that will be on the pitch at Wembley this evening.

Donny will change his name to ‘Paws’ for the match and will meet families ahead of kick-off before going pitchside to warm up the crowd. 'Paws' will then step on to the hallowed Wembley turf at half time for further England duties.

Donny Dog “I know I have to turn into a cat for the game but it’s a great international honour and I will be Rovers only full England international. The pride of pulling on a Three Lions shirt and walking out at Wembley will be an amazing honour. My first club will always be Rovers but not many mascots get the chance to represent their country”

Brian Flynn, Rovers Manager “I know what its like to walk out at Wembley when I lead Wales out to face England five times in the 1980’s. Donny will have a great experience and even though I’m Welsh I’m glad to have an England International in my team”
