Flynn: We Have To Be At Our Very Best

22 February 2013

Manager Brian Flynn spoke to Rovers Player ahead of the visit of inform Yeovil Town.

Brian admitted that his side have been lacking creativity of late and they will have to be at their very best to overcome the Glovers.

“I think we need to start to make chances not just for strikers but everybody. I don’t think we’ve looked a threat at set pieces recently where we have normally been looking dangerous and scoring goals – generally we are a good set piece team.

“We’re not creating as many chances as we should be,” he said

“The emphasis is always on being hard to beat which is the main reason that we are at the top of the league. We’ve been very difficult to beat and scoring late goals.”

Brian described the form Yeovil have been in of late as ‘blistering’.

“You can only describe their [Yeovil’s] form as blistering,” said Flynn

“We are going to have to be at our very best to beat them. I can’t deny we have been stuttering of late but this is an ideal opportunity to move on up again.

“When you’re playing against the better of the teams, you’d like to think that it will bring the best out of your team.

“We’re trying to achieve automatic promotion and there are more teams involved in that now.  A month ago we had a six point cushion and that’s gone now, teams are really pushing hard at this stage of the season - we will be doing the same.

“We have to impose ourselves on the game from the first minute to the last, that’s what we are good at that’s why we have had some good results.

“We need to set the tempo of the game and put our mark on it whilst respecting our opposition’s strengths.

“With the experience we have coming back into the squad added to the fresh legs, which we’ve needed, we will be ok.”
