Rob Jones among the nominations for npower Football League 1 Player of the Month for January.
The nominations for January League 1 player of the month have been announced and the Rovers veteran is among the shortlist of three players put forward for their standout performances. Jones is joined by Swindon Town keeper Wes Foderingham and Yeovil Town striker Paddy Madden on the list.
The giant centre half has been invaluable to Doncaster Rovers both on and off the pitch with his leadership role that oversaw a smooth transition of managers before passing on the reigns to Brian Flynn.
The commanding defender has also been pivotal to the club’s success on the field contributing to the side that enjoyed an unbeaten month, while pitching in with 2 more goals for the season including the last minute winner against Stevenage.
The award for player of the month is decided by a panel including Katy Thomas joined by Wolves legend Don Goodman, BBC Sport’s Mark Clemmit and The Football Leagues Head of communications, John Nagle.
The winning player will be joined by nominees Paulo Di Canio of Swindon Town, Dean Smith of Walsall and Gary Johnson of Yeovil Town who are on the shortlist for the manager of the month award for January as well.
The winners will be announced on Friday the 15th February.
