‘Rob Jones Day’ on Saturday!

8 February 2013

Last week Rovers confirmed that the home fixture against Walsall on Saturday will be a celebration of the exploits of our Captain Fantastic.

As a part of the In Rovers We Trust project, the Viking supporters Co-operative requested the club to celebrate the game against the Saddlers as ‘Rob Jones Day’.

Speaking to Rovers Player, on hearing the news of this special day to celebrate his contribution to the club, Rob was clearly moved by the appreciation shown by the Rovers supporters.

“It’s a bit surreal,” he said

“I’m very thankful that someone has gone to the expense and time to actually create a ‘Rob Jones Day’.

“It makes me laugh because it is a bit surreal to me, it’s not happened to me before but I’m very thankful to those who thought it right to have it.

“It will be a fun event for everyone involved I think it’s one that we will all look forward to.

“It’ll be a bit crazy, I might keep my children away from that game it might scare them a little bit, but seriously it’ll be fun.”

“Thankfully I’ve been at some good clubs with some really good supporters; I was at Sheffield Wednesday last year and they took to me really well as did Hibs and Grimsby. It’s been great to play in front of the supporters but this just adds to that fact – the first Rob Jones Day its brilliant!”

Supporters are encouraged to download, print and wear Rob Jones masks from the Viking Supporters Co-operative website, www.drfc-vsc.co.uk

As a part of the day supporters who get involved will have the opportunity to win some random prizes, including a Rob Jones signed print and a chance to visit the visit the training to meet Rob and the rest of the Doncaster Rovers squad.
