Captain Thanks Fans For Support

2 January 2013

Doncaster Rovers’ captain Rob Jones would like to take an opportunity to thank fans for their fantastic support at the Sheffield United game and throughout the season so far.

“The support at the game on Tuesday was brilliant; the fans really came out in their numbers and made their voices heard.  It really does make a difference

“Despite the disappointing end, the team are still on a fantastic run of form and this is helped by the support we receive from the fans.

“The support helped the lads produce their best home performance of the season and we’d love the fans to make this a regular occurrence at The Keepmoat in our push for promotion.

“Away from home we’ve equalled a club record and we’ve got the fans that travel up and down the country and appreciate our efforts by making noise to thank for that.

“Their support does make more of a difference than you’d think; we really do feed off the backing from the Rovers fans”

This season has been a successful one so far with Rovers really pushing for a promotion place and even after the draw with Sheffield United, Jones believes with support at The Keepmoat, the team can make this season a special one.

“If the fans turn out in their numbers to The Keepmoat and produce the noise and support of Tuesday then there’s no question about whether the team can really challenge this season.

“We’re still flying in the league, we’re still up there. I urge the fans that came on Tuesday to come down to the Colchester game and recreate the atmosphere which really did help push the boys on against Sheffield United.

“I would just like to take this opportunity to tell the fans that the team really appreciate the way they’ve taken to the team this season and how they have shown support both in numbers and with noise all season. I hope they will continue to support me and the boys to gear us up for the second half of this brilliant season so far.”

Rovers face Colchester United on Saturday 5th January in their second home game of 2013 and will look to continue their unbeaten run.
