More Of The Same On Saturday!

16 January 2013

As Leyton Orient head up the M1 to South Yorkshire this weekend they will be wary of the threat that Rovers may have in store.

The O’s have left Doncaster with their tails well and truly between their legs in two of their last three visits and Rovers will be looking to send them home in a similar mood on Saturday.

Their most recent trip was their only visit to the Keepmoat to date resulting in a six-goal thriller between the sides and certainly one to remember.  After a goalless first 45 minutes, though, you wouldn’t have imagined that the final score would be anything like it was.

Jason Price fired in a shot that was blocked inside the area but Richie Wellens was on hand to force the ball home from close range. Just as Rovers supporters had sat down from celebrating the opener the visitors were back on level terms. Jabo Ibehre pounced on a defensive mix up to slot home.

That goal invigorated the visitors who were to go in front with just over 20 minutes to go, Stephen Purches netted from an acute angle firing past Neil Sullivan.

Rovers immediately upped their game and equalized within a minute, Lewis Guy fed Jason Price who neatly turned his marker and fired the ball into the roof of the Orient net to make it 2-2.

From this point on there was only going to be one winner. Orient could do nothing but succumb to incessant pressure from Rovers and with seven minutes remaining James Hayter expertly hooked the ball home to put the home side back in front before Richie Wellens scored his second goal of the game in the 88th minute finishing confidently with a low shot past former Rovers ‘keeper Stuart Nelson.
