Dickov on First Day

17 July 2013

Rovers’ manager Paul Dickov spoke to Rovers Player after arriving in Portugal for the squad’s five-day training camp.

Rovers’ manager Paul Dickov spoke to Rovers Player after arriving in Portugal for the squad’s five-day training camp.

After leaving in the early hours of Monday morning, the squad arrived in Portugal and set about a training schedule put together to test the players ahead of the new season.

Dickov said: “We had to be careful with them today because they’ve had a long day and a lot of travelling, but they will be well into it tomorrow with three sessions.

“We’ve been in the gym and on the pitch, and we’ve got some good work in already which will test them physically and mentally.

“I’ve been here myself before and it has great facilities; it’s purely focused on sports science stuff and fitness stuff, and obviously the football side of it as well.

“It’s good for us to get away for these five days and get some good work in.”

Dickov himself even got in on the action in training but admits he won’t be looking to make a comeback anytime soon.

He added: “I had the opportunity to see if I still had it or not, unfortunately for me, I’ve not.”
