Dickov on Transfers

18 July 2013

Sponsored by caught up with manager Paul Dickov on the squad’s pre-season training camp in Portugal for an update on transfer activity.

Dickov spent yesterday afternoon after his side’s 2-1 victory over Portimonense on the phone to potential targets in a hope to bolster his squad for the upcoming Championship campaign.

He said: “We’re looking to bring the average age of the squad down a bit and I have a list of targets that I’m in the process of trying to bring to the club”

The hard work never stops when it comes to building a squad for next season and, despite the players enjoying a well earned afternoon off, Dickov spent yesterday working tirelessly to make sure his team is ready to face Blackpool on August 3.

He later added: “I’m working hard to get players in place for the Bradford game next Saturday to give them chance to work with the team before the season kicks off. I’m closing in on my targets and hopefully we’ll have some news soon”

On Saturday Paul admitted the club are looking to sign up young defender Luke McCullough after he impressed the manager while he has been on trial at the club. The 19-year-old travelled with the squad to Portugal and Dickov had his say on the player.

Dickov said: “We brought Luke out to have a further look at him and I’ve liked what I’ve seen. Hopefully we can sort something for him soon”
