Manager Paul Dickov spoke exclusively to Rovers Player ahead of the visit of SPL runners up Motherwell on Saturday.
Rovers will face the toughest test of the pre-season schedule when Stuart McCall’s men roll into town.
Paul admitted that although it will be a tough game it will also be an opportunity for himself and his team to get a better idea of where his players are fitness wise.
“They will be tough opposition but it will be a great test for us,” he said.
“They’re a club that have done fantastically well over the last couple of seasons -Stuart [McCall] has done a great job there.
“I’ve met Stuart a few times so it will be good to see him again. He’s done a fantastic job to get them into Europe being the size of club they are – there will be a couple of fiery Scots on the touchline which should bode for a quiet afternoon,” he joked.
“They are a couple of weeks ahead of us pre-season wise and games wise so it will be really good for me to test where we are at in terms of fitness, in terms of quality and in terms of them [players] taking information on board that we are trying to give them - all in all it should be a good game.
“It’s a game where the players can now show me that they have taken in what we have been working on against a lot better opposition.
“What we want to do next season is to make sure that any team coming to the Keepmoat knows that they are in for a really good game - that will start on Saturday.
“It’ll be my first game in charge at the Keepmoat so I’m really excited for it, I hope the supporters are too and that they all come down to the game.”
Tickets for the game are on general sale and are available to purchase from the stadium ticket office, via the ticket hotline on 01302 762576 or online
