Rovers Of The Future

9 July 2013

Doncaster Rovers are delighted to announce that six products of the youth team have signed their first professional deals with the club.

For the second season in succession the club have handed six players from the U18s professional contracts reiterating the club’s commitment to giving academy players a chance to progress in the professional game.

Strikers Chris Whincop and Alex Peterson join midfielders Harry Middleton, Josh Meade and full-backs Evan Finnegan and Jordan Binns in signing one-year professional contracts with Doncaster Rovers and have already earned praise from manager Paul Dickov for their attitude and desire to succeed.

Three of the five youngsters have already made their professional debuts at the club last season during the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie at Crewe Alexandra.

Harry Middleton and Josh Meade both started the game whilst Irish full-back Finnegan made a second half substitute appearance replacing James Husband, another product of the Rovers Academy.

Husband also became the club’s youngest ever captain in that further highlighting the clubs commitment to giving youth a chance.

The six boys who have earned their first professional contracts couldn’t have done so without the aid of the Rovers Alliance.

The Rovers Alliance is an exclusive members club with the sole purpose of raising vital funds for the club’s Youth Development System, whilst giving members a closer link to Doncaster Rovers and the chance to win cash prizes and money can’t buy experiences.
