Business People of Doncaster gathered yesterday to celebrate the launch of this year’s Business Cup.
Officially titled “The ‘Crown Hotel Bawtry’ Doncaster Business Cup” thanks to a generous donation from the Crown Hotel to sponsor the event.
The event, in its third year of running now, is raising money for Doncaster based cancer charity Firefly Cancer Awareness & Support, the South Yorkshire Community Foundation as part of the “I Love Doncaster” campaign and Doncaster Rovers Foundation.
Each year two team of local business owners take part in a football match, at the Keepmoat Stadium, and compete for the Doncaster Business Cup. The idea was formed 3 years ago when local businessman David Plant – managing director of Moirae Creative Agency, had the privilege of joining Doncaster Rovers on Inca Trek to raise money for the NSPCC.
The following year Gary Rogers of RH Recruiting teamed up with David Plant to raise money for local charity Aurora. Year on year the Business Cup has been contested to raise money for charity and this year is no different.
Each business will pay £200 which enables a representative of that business to take part in the match. Kits for both teams have also been sponsored by local businesses; Team Plant being sponsored by Local Motors and Team Rogers by Stoneacre Motor Group.
Doncaster Rovers Football Club are pleased to be backing and assisting this year’s event in what has been a great partnership thus far.
The match takes place on Tuesday 16th July 6:30pm kick off. Please come down and support the businessman playing and more importantly the charities that money is being raised for!
Tickets are priced at just £3 for children and £5 for adults and can be purchased from; The Keepmoat Stadium Ticket Office, the Blue Building and The Crown Hotel Bawtry.
