Doncaster Rovers will face League Two side Rochdale, at Keepmoat Stadium, in the first round of 2013/14 Capital One Cup.
The draw for the first round was made this morning, ahead of fixture release day on Wednesday (19 June), and has paired Rovers with Rochdale.
In last season’s competition Rovers faced newly promoted York City in the first round of the competition.
Rovers progressed through to the second round courtesy of a penalty shoot out victory after Chris Brown’s late penalty levelled the score against the Minstermen.
Championship Hull City were Rovers’ opponent in Round 2 in what turned out to be a thrilling encounter.
Two goals down in the opening ten minutes of the game meant Rovers’ chances of progression, into the third round of the cup, were looking increasingly unlikely.
In true Rovers fashion, Dean Saunders men battled hard till the very end and that never say die attitude resulted in David Syers scoring the winner in the very last minute.
The reward for that victory was an away tie at Premier League Norwich City. Although defeated in the game, Rovers took great heart out of the performance in which they matched the Canaries throughout.
Ties will be played week commencing 5th August. Keep checking the official website for confirmation of the date and ticket information.
