Back Rovers And Make It A Good Friday

28 March 2013

It’s been a traumatic week for Coventry City, who are still waiting to see if they will be deducted 10 points, but at least they’ll be able to complete their fixtures at the Ricoh Arena.

The Sky Blues are looking to do the double over Rovers after a comprehensive victory at the Keepmoat at the end of last year though David McGoldrick, who scored twice that day, has since moved on and his replacement and top scorer Leon Clarke is injured.

BetButler have the Sky Blues at 13/8 but there is surely more value in backing Brian Flynn’s League 1 leaders at 15/8 as they’ve already won 13 times on the road this season whereas Coventry’s best performances have tended to come away from the Ricoh, where they have only won six of their 20 matches. Rovers won 2-0 in the West Midlands in the Championship last season, relegating City in the process, and a repeat 2-0 scoreline can be backed at 14/1 with BetButler.

There are big games involving teams at the top of League 1 at Tranmere and Yeovil on Good Friday but the best bet in the division should be Bournemouth, who are 11/10 to win at struggling Colchester. Carlisle United can make the most of home advantage to beat poor travellers Shrewsbury Town at 13/10 and Scunthorpe United can bounce back from last week’s derby defeat by taking a point off Leyton Orient at Glanford Park at 12/5.
