Flynn: Best Is Yet To Come

5 March 2013

Rovers Player spoke to manager Brian Flynn ahead of the trip to Stadium:MK.

Brian admitted that he was very happy with how things are going after Saturday's victory over Hartlepool United.

“I’m delighted with how things are going at the moment,” he said

“We had those three draws, after two defeats, but I think they were important draws because it gave us the opportunity to get back to the performance levels that we know we can achieve.

“I don’t think that we have hit the heights that we are capable of

“You’ve got to keep calm with the situation knowing that it would only be temporary, and it was a temporary blip in terms of performances and results. the best is yet to come – we look like achieving that in the last ten games.”

Brian spoke about the final ten games of the season giving him the chance to watch games from a different viewpoint, something that he adopted whilst manager at Wrexham.

When asked about what position he thinks his team will finish, Brian revealed he wants to win the league championship.

“You’re in the heat of the battle in the dugout so sometimes it’s better to go upstairs and assess things.”

“You see thing better from higher up, when you’re sat in the stand you’re not involved in the intensity of the dugout.

“When I was manager of Wrexham, I watched every game from up in the stands, I may do that again in the last ten games here.

“There’s been three leaders in as many weeks, but I was told something really interesting over the weekend, the last time we topped the league 9 years ago we stayed top.

“I’m not afraid to say we want to be Champions, we have to got for it now and hold onto top spot.”

On opponents MK Dons Flynn said:

“They will retain possession really well and will keep probing looking for weaknesses in our back line.

“We can afford to let the have the ball as long as it’s in the areas were they cant hurt us

“Unfortunately since the QPR game it hasn’t really happened for them, but only Karl [Robinson] can tell you if that is the reason for their recent league form.
