Manager Brian Flynn spoke to Rovers Player after securing the loan signing of Dean Furman from Oldham Athletic.
Brian has been a long term admirer of the former Chelsea and Rangers man and spoke of his delight after finally securing his signature.
Brian spoke about the qualities that Dean will bring to the team and revealed that he looking beyond season with his acquisition.
“He’s the right quality and the right type of player for us,” said Flynn
“He ticks every single box we were looking for, so we are delighted that he is here - he’s been on our radar for a while now.
“I first saw Dean in 2006 when he was a young player for Chelsea, so he’s been in my player list for a long time to be fair.
“He went to Rangers from Chelsea; I have got good contacts there too, so I kept an eye on him whilst he was there.
“I’m delighted I have finally got one of the men I wanted; it’s given everybody a little bit of a lift too, which is good. He’s trained really well and he’s shown his qualities on the training ground this morning.
“Dean is very much in our minds for next season; it is in our thoughts to extend the deal. If he comes in and does as well, as we expect him to, then we would be looking to further the deal.
“He’s a current full international; unfortunately for us he goes away next week to play for South Africa so he will be missing next week.
“We knew that would happen; when you bring in international footballers they will be away at some stage of the season.”
