Manager Brian Flynn spoke to Rovers Player after his side’s defeat at the hands of MK Dons last night.
Brian admitted that Rovers were second best all the way through the game, which proved to be decisive.
“We lost to the better team,” he said
“On the night they were better than us; the way they controlled the ball, their movement was always a problem for us and we just didn’t deal with it all night – it was a really harsh lesson for us.
“We could have retained possession better, that’s for certain, we didn’t do that from the first minute to the last and that’s a danger sign coming through. With so many players having an off day, it’s not going to work for you.
“We even struggled defensively; they hit the post twice and had other chances too. It could have been a heavier defeat; you cant blame your forwards for not creating things – it was a bad night for us all round.”
Rovers have key players out injured and Brian admitted although we miss those players we have to cope without them.
“You always miss quality players, but when they’re not available you have to deal with it, that’s part of being a good squad. When players come in they should be able to deal with what is put in front of them.
“Rob [Jones] has got a problem down the side of his calf and lower part of his ankle so that’s going to be a problem because we’re not sure how long he’s going to be.
“If there’s a small crumb of comfort from tonight it is that we’re still top of the league. In the recent month we’ve had some difficult times and then went five games undefeated, that’s the challenge now that’s what we have to do.
“The last ten game games are going to be massive, it’s about how we respond from this – it’s going to be a very interesting end to the season.”
