Flynn: We Are In Control

28 March 2013

Manager Brian Flynn spoke to Rovers Player ahead of the Good Friday visit to the Ricoh Arena.

Coventry are going through difficult times at the moment and after much speculation about the venue of tomorrow’s fixture, it was confirmed this morning that the game would take place at the Ricoh Arena as scheduled.

On the pitch, the Sky Blues have had an inconsistent season but Brian is all aware of the dangers they possessed.

“They’re inconsistent I suppose, but they’ve still got talented players in the team so we are aware of their strengths and weaknesses.

“Our away form has been blistering; the team is set up that way because we are good at it.

“The quality of goals last week was excellent. The third goal especially if you look at it again there were so many good things involved like the timing of the run, the weight of pass and the support everything about it made it a quality goal.”

The game marks the beginning of a big week in the promotion run-in and Brian believes that Rovers are in control at this moment in time.

“I’m delighted that the game is on Friday, we moved the game forward a day to get an extra day rest ahead of the Swindon game on Monday. It’s the teams we are playing against, Swindon and Tranmere that makes it a big week.

“We are in control, and we like being in control of the situation.”

Midfielder Dean Furman has returned to the club after completing international duties with South Africa. Although he suffered a facial injury Brian confirmed that Dean will be available for selection.

“Dean is fine; he was defending a corner and was caught by a flailing elbow, it was definitely an accident. He’s had a stitch in but he will be ok for the game.”

Brain also confirmed that Paul Quinn will not be available for the game.

“Paul Quinn has had a bereavement in the family up in Scotland so he has been given time off to go and deal with that situation.

“Robbie Blake was surplus to requirement and he wouldn’t be involved between now and the end of the season, we gave him that option to leave and he’s made the decision.”
