New signing Dean Furman spoke exclusively to Rovers Player after signing on loan from Oldham Athletic.
Furman spoke about his delight after signing for Rovers and that he is looking forward to the challenge.
“I’m delighted to be here,” he said
“It’s a very exciting prospect for me, I’ve played at the Keepmoat a couple of times before and it’s a great stadium.
“The club is top of the league and is very ambitious in looking to get back into the Championship. I’m delighted to be here and hopefully I can help that cause.
“As a player you want to be challenging to win the league and looking for titles, so when I heard of the interest I was very excited straight away – I really hope that I can help the club to get promoted.
“I’ve been at Oldham a long time and know the club inside out so I obviously leave with mixed emotions but this was just too good an opportunity to turn down.
Dean swaps the threat of relegation with Oldham with possible promotion with Rovers and says he is excited for the final games of the season.
“There’s a different sort of pressure here but hopefully its one that I can thrive on; I’m excited to get stuck into the battle of the next nine games.
“Looking at the table now, the club are top of the league, and hopefully we can remain in that position right the way through to the end of the season – that has got to be the goal, to remain in that
number one position.”
When asked to describe himself as a player Furman said: ”First and foremost I’m a very hard worker.
“I can play in different roles within the central midfield position. I like sweeping and breaking the play up as well as creating chances when we have possession.
“I was made captain a couple of years ago, at a young age, but regardless whether I have the armband or not I’m a vocal character on the pitch; I like to try and get my point across to help the team.”
