Pupils Welcome FA Women's Cup Finalist

23 May 2013

With only a few days to go before the pinnacle match of the women’s football season, children from Doncaster welcomed FA Women’s Cup finalist Siobhan Chamberlain.

The goalkeeper from Bristol Academy came along with the prestigious FA Women’s Cup Trophy ahead of The FA Women’s Cup Final, taking place this Sunday 26th May at Keepmoat Stadium (KO 3pm).

Following Kim Little and Kelly Smith of Arsenal Ladies’ visit yesterday to meet students of Doncaster College and Balby Carr Community Sports College, it was the turn of Bristol Academy’s goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain to meet pupils from Wadworth Primary School, Doncaster. The children, first gathered in the assembly hall for a Q&A and performed their football song ‘Football Crazy’. All the pupils then had the chance to take part in coaching sessions with the Bristol Academy player and an FA coach. They also showed their delight in having their photo taken with the historic piece of silverware and Berry, The FA Women’s Super League mascot.  It is hoped that the visit will inspire the children of Doncaster and football fans across the region to come and celebrate The FA Women’s Cup Final coming to town and see the best of women’s football.

Siobhan Chamberlain said: ‘It was great to meet pupils from Wadworth Primary School in Doncaster. All children, boys and girls of all age groups were excited about The FA Women’s Cup Final and were keen to learn more about the life of a female footballer. It is important to encourage these kids to play football and I hope to see some of them again at the Keepmoat stadium on Sunday.’
Tickets are still available to this showcase event and with tickets costing only £10 for an adult and £5 for children and concessions, the match offers a great opportunity to watch women’s professional football at an affordable price.
