Whincop Nominated For Goal Of The Month

Chris Whincop has been nominated for the League Football Education’s (LFE) April Goal of the Month prize, for his goal against local rivals Rotherham United.

The competition features the best goals from Under 18 Academy players at Football League clubs up and down the land and nine outstanding goals have been shortlisted for the award. 

Portsmouth’s Bradley Tarbuck took the honours last month for his right-foot volley in his side’s 3-1 victory over Southend Utd on 30 March. The goal which came at the end of a neat build-up play grabbed 47 per cent of the public vote. The contenders for this month are:

GOAL A: Jamie Hanson, Coventry City v DERBY COUNTY
GOAL B: Charlie Harris, Millwall v BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION
GOAL C: Oliver Muldoon, CHARLTON ATHLETIC v Ipswich Town
GOAL D: Chris Whincop, DONCASTER ROVERS v Rotherham United
GOAL E: Wale Ayoola, Leeds United v SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY
GOAL F: Jae Heon Kim, PORTSMOUTH v Luton Town
GOAL G: Luke O'Nien, WATFORD v Leyton Orient
GOAL H: Kieran Shaw, Oldham Athletic v BLACKPOOL
GOAL I: Jamie McDonagh, SHEFFIELD UNITED v Sheffield Wednesday

LFE Chief Executive, Alan Sykes said: “This competition remains popular with our apprentices, clubs and the general public and continues to showcase the excellent work being conducted across The Football League to develop talented young players.”
