Lucky Rovers Alliance £10,000 super jackpot winner Michael Calow from Thrybergh has been busy planning how he is going to spend his winnings.
Michael first started supporting Rovers aged 16 and has had a season ticket since the club were promoted from the Conference. He sits in the West stand with his two brothers and comes from a family of Rovers fans.
“I still can’t believe I won! I haven’t been able to stop crying since I heard the news that I had won the jackpot. The night I won felt like an out of body experience – Rovers winning was the icing on the cake. I have always loved Rovers and try and support all things Rovers, I try to attend all Rovers events, Open Evenings and such like.
“James Coppinger is one of my favourite Rovers players so it was wonderful when he and Billy Paynter came over to congratulate me – it really was a night that I will never forget.
“My wife sadly died earlier this year and I keep thinking about what she would make of all this and the plans we would have made of spending my winnings together.
“I am planning on buying a headstone for my wife’s grave with some of the winnings. I am not a very extravagant man so I haven’t got a long wish list for how to spend my winnings.
“I am a big Elvis Presley fan and I would very much like to go to America and visit Graceland. This is something I never thought I would be able to do in my lifetime so for the winnings to allow me to do that would be wonderful. I would definitely wear my Rovers shirt if I visit the historic site.
“If I can’t get to Graceland then I would like to go to either Ayers Rock or the Grand Canyon.
“I will also be using the money to pay for my Doncaster Rovers season ticket for the 2014/15 season and I obviously will keep my Alliance membership. My wife used to pay for my season ticket – so next season will be in memory of her.
“I have been a member of the Rovers Alliance since it started in 2009 and have been lucky to win a number of prizes during this time including a meal at a local restaurant and a training ground experience.
“I would definitely recommend becoming a member of the Alliance as so many people I know have won prizes with the scheme. It is also great to give something back to the club as I support everything the club does – for just the price of a weekly pint!
