Dickov On Bringing In Players

26 November 2013

Dickov has brought in former Rovers midfielder Martin Woods on non-contract terms, but is still looking to add to the squad before Thursday's loan deadline.

"I have signed experienced former Rovers player Martin Woods on a non-contract deal.  Martin has been training with us while he searched for a club and is a very experienced player at this level plus he knows the club.

"He has proved his fitness and it is beneficial at this time for him to help out the club and himself by being involved while he looks for another club”.

On adding to the squad further Paul said; “I have been working to get one or two in but it’s a difficult time for getting players who I feel can do a job for us. The loan window shuts on Thursday and clubs just don’t want to allow their better players out at this time just before the busy Christmas period.

"It’s not for want of trying as I have been very busy on the phone all weekend and I am still hopeful I can get someone in. I really need to strengthen but the lads who have been brought in especially in the defence have done well the past two games. We need to get cover in, as we are a bit bare on areas such as defence because of injuries.

"I don’t want to bring players in just for the sake of it; they have to be able to be up to the standards I expect. There are lots of 18-20 year out there but they have not got the experience I need right now”.
