Sky Bet - Promotion Race Opens Up

11 November 2013

It was a weekend for the chasing pack in the Sky Bet Championship with none of the leaders recording victories.

Leaders Burnley were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth after title favourites QPR had to settle for the same scoreline against fellow promotion contenders Reading, leaving the door open.

Leicester missed the chance to go top as they were beaten by Forest 2-0, while Watford were denied a place back in the play-offs as Daniel Ayala’s last-gasp goal salvaged a 2-2 draw at Middlesbrough.

Leeds endured no such frustrations as Ross McCormack netted four times in their 4-2 victory over Charlton, with fellow climbers Derby enjoying a 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday and Brighton beating Blackburn 3-0.

As a result, Forest have been cut to 5/2 for promotion with the Football League’s title sponsor Sky Bet, Watford follow at 3/1 with Leeds, Brighton (both 8/1) and Derby (9/1) all also seeing their odds reduced.

QPR remain the favourites at evens for the title while Leicester are 9/2 with Burnley 8/1 to be crowned champions.
