At their AGM in August, Doncaster Rovers Official Supporters Club presented the club with a cheque for £2500 to go towards medical equipment for the training ground.
Physio Alex Dalton was given the money to go out and purchase equipment that would aid him in getting players back into the squad after injury.
Alex Dalton said; “The first thing we ordered with the official supporters club money is a back inversion table. This has now arrived and being put into use by players who are recovering from injury.
“Although it looks like some medieval torture table, it allows us to strap a player on it then turn them upside down. What this does is unlock the back, relax muscles and ligaments.
“As you can imagine as players they twist and turn every day playing football - their backs take a lot of pounding.
“By having this inversion bed we hope to alleviate any problems that occur and get players back in action as soon as possible. This will make a big impact on our rehabilitation programmes to get players back in the first team”
He added; “We also have a therapy machine called ‘Game Ready’ that uses cold compression. This is one the best in its field, but we are limited at the moment because we only have two wraps for the right tibia and right shoulder.
“We have ordered three more wraps with the rest of the money from the supporters club. These have now arrived and being put into action. This will enable us to affect more body parts such as the ankles and dead legs etc. which players get every day while training and playing.
“What is good about this machine, and the extra wraps, is that it is very portable so we can take them on away trips. That allows to use it straight after games for recovery and treatment rather than waiting till we get back.”
Paul Dickov said; “This donation will make a real impact on rehabilitation and getting the players back in the squad, so that I have the best squad possible available.
“I would like to thank the supporters club for this, it shows that they care about their club by helping support the players both on and off the field.”
Gavin Baldwin said; “I would like to thank the Supporters Club for the generous donation for the training ground. We spoke to Paul (Dickov) and Alex Dalton to see what they wanted and they have now received this equipment, which is helping player rehabilitation."
