Dickov On De Val

17 October 2013

Paul spoke to Rovers Player at the training ground and was asked about Marc De Val who played 45 minutes and scored in the Central League win over Hartlepool on Tuesday.

"We were all delighted to see Marc (De Val) get 45 minutes on Tuesday after his long time out since the Motherwell friendly. He did well but we feel he will still need about a couple of weeks before he is fully ready. We don’t want to just throw him in and we want to look after him.

"It’s not just the fitness side but he has come in to a completely different culture but what I do know is that once he is fit he will be a good player for us. Marc knows that it will be hard to break into the midfield right now but that is good news because it means the lads who have the places are playing well.

"Marc when he is fully fit will add something else to the mix with the other midfielders, which gives me a way of adapting to different styles of opponents. Having all four fit will give me the ability to be flexible in games, which is good for the club.

"We have shown in previous weeks that we can play different systems and the loss of Kiko (Macheda) or James Husband won’t change that and we have Theo to come back, who has been fantastic recently but not got the goals is play deserved but his work rate and tenacity to do things for the team has been top class."
