Donny Dog On Tour

10 October 2013

With the International break we have no home games now until 2nd November, so I am here to make you all smile with my recent adventures.

I am going to go back to pre-season because we have a lot to catch up on.

Hope you are all well and are enjoying the season so far?

24 May – Barnsley Metrodome to attend the Sheffield & District Junior League presentations (I did Gangnam Style on stage and I even got presented with a trophy for helping!)

25 May – I made an appearance at the Cantley Carnival where I presented the talent show winner with her trophy (she was a singer!)

26 May – FA Cup Women’s Final between Bristol Academy and Arsenal.  It was good meeting GunnerSaurus and Vicky the Vixen!

5 June – Bessacarr Boys U7-U10 presentation at Hawthorne Club in Cantley

7 June – Wedding Bells as we (me and Erik the Viking) made a special appearance at Charnwood Hotel for season ticket holders Glyn Law & Kerry Hickling.  Congratulations once again, it was a great occasion.

8 June – Edenthorpe Juniors presentation at Parklands Social Club

15/16 June – Bessacarr Boys tournament at Cantley Park with the ‘League One Trophy’

16 June – Fathers Day tour here and I made a special appearance and the kids were delighted!

22 June – Mascot Olympics, Milton Keynes.  It was a fantastic day and I enjoyed getting my rosettes.

30 June – Bentley Bonanza with the ‘league one trophy’ and I met Mayor ‘Ros Jones’

6 July – My good friend Erik the Viking made an appearance at Retford for our

pre-season game.

13 July – Pre-season match against Motherwell, was good to be back!

14 July – Town Fields Gala, I enjoyed playing pass the ball with a young football fan!

21 July – Charity football match on pitch 2, the kids were happy to see me there & Erik the Viking attended an event at Charnwood Hotel

24 July – Club Open Day, I had a great night with all the fans and the players.  Was great to have so many activities in the family area too!

The season so far……

It was fantastic being back in the Championship playing against Blackpool in the first game of the season.  I visited the newly decorated Crown Hotel executive box and enjoyed being back amongst the fans.  We then played Rochdale in the Capital One Cup and made it to the next round with a last minute goal. We came up against Leeds United in round 2 and got knocked out.  I was hoping we would make it to round 3, but I won’t forget the good run we had back in 2005. We have the F.A Cup to look forward to and most importantly the league!

I enjoyed the atmosphere when Blackburn Rovers visited the Keepmoat on Friday 16th August and it was good to see Tommy Spurr as he had just signed for them.  My programme notes for that match said we need to get our first win back in the Championship and we won 2-0.  We were all bouncing around the ground!!!

On Saturday 17th August I was lucky enough to be in the Town Centre celebrating Leeds Building Societies 10th birthday.  I had a good time with Traxie Bear and we entertained all the children (and adults) with our fancy dance moves!

Wigan ‘away’ appeared to be an amazing night for the fans.  I am happy with the 2-2 against an ex premiership and FA Cup winning side.  Sorry I was not at the game, but I plan to attend as many away games as I can – so look out for me!

I was also invited to the Belles v Arsenal match on Wednesday 21st August.  I met up with WSL mascot Berry Bear and we had a dance off, I won’t say who won!  We had a fun evening, but disappointed the Belles lost 6-0.

I attended the Huddersfield Town match and had a half time race against Terry the Terrier.  This involved dribbling the ball and then scoring a goal.  For those of you who were there, sorry I did not beat him.  In my defence it was so close and I really did enjoy it.  They made me feel so welcome and it was my first away game of this season with many more to come (I hope).

I feel we were very unlucky at Watford and we have our replay against Charlton at the end of November!

I enjoyed attending the match on 18 September against Scunthorpe Reserves; I spent the first half sat amongst the Louis Tomlinson fans!  It was a shame that Louis sustained an injury and could not play for us, but it was great seeing him back here.

We shared the points with Nottingham Forest and it was good to see their away following.  I felt a bit under the weather so I did not attend the Sheffield Wednesday match, I would have liked chasing those owls!!!  Next up was Burnley at home and I got to see Brian Stock again, what an amazing start they have made.  Always a shame to lose matches, but against Leicester we got all the points…thank you Kasper Schmeichel!  I had the One Call mascots with me that day which was fun.

I hope to see many of you at Reading and Middlesbrough; I am looking forward to travelling away again.  For those who do not make the trips I will see you back here against Brighton.
