Liam’s dream day with Rovers

10 October 2013

Life-long Rovers fan Liam McHugh recently fulfilled a life-long ambition by securing a contract with his beloved Doncaster Rovers, albeit just for one day!

Liam was the lucky winner of the contract for a day prize, which was part of the ultimate season ticket package prize draws.

Liam was invited to the Keepmoat Stadium for a tour before heading to the Cantley Park training ground to watch the first team train. It was a family occasion as Liam brought along his Mum, Dad and Sister to share his extra special day.

Manager Paul Dickov was on hand to meet and have photographs taken with Liam as well as Brian Flynn and training ground staff.

Liam was presented with a brand new Rovers shirt, which all the players signed for Liam as a special memento of the day.

As part of the tour of the training ground complex Liam spent some time with club physiotherapist Alex Dalton. Liam’s chosen career path is sport physiotherapy and Alex advised him on the job of a football club physiotherapist and what experience Liam needs to pursue his dream job. Alex also gave Liam a list of books useful for his studies at University.

To end his day Liam returned to the Keepmoat Stadium for an interview in the press lounge, which will be featured on Rovers Player.

Liam said:  “It was a great experience seeing how a football club runs on a day to day basis. Meeting all the players and the manager was brilliant.

“Talking to Alex Dalton was a really valuable experience and it has reinforced how much I want to be a physiotherapist in a football club environment.

“I have been a Rovers season ticket holder for more than 10 seasons now and I would encourage anyone to buy a season ticket as they might get an opportunity like I have had.”
