Paul spoke to Rovers Player ahead of this Saturday's game with Reading. He spoke about losing James Husband to injury.
"The loss of James Husband who as been fantastic for us was a blow and I thought he was getting better but you know that during the course of the season that injuries are going to happen. You have to deal with this and one of the reasons we brought Reece (Wabara) in was his ability to cover all the back four positions.
"I felt that in the last game against Leicester, Reece had one of his best games at left back. I have been speaking to clubs about left backs and centre forwards but I am pleased with what I have to pick from and I don’t want to upset what we have on and off the pitch here at the moment. We would like to get cover in if we could but there seems to be a shortage of left backs that are good and clubs want to let out on loan. If nothing happens we go with what we have and if you look at the last three games we have kept clean sheets in two of them and the other was a penalty and an own goal, so we are still solid defensibly so why change it.
"We are working with the players we have at the moment for the game on Saturday but we are always looking for players to bring in if they are what we need. At the moment the other clubs want to keep their good players and we only want to bring in good players. What I don’t want to do whether it is the left back or a striker position is bring someone in for the sake of it. I am not going to take a risk on a player if they are not good or better than I have already.
"The international break has allowed us to get players fit again and I said that Paul Quinn and Reece Wabara were carrying knocks after the Leicester game but its done them good, so they will both be fit for Saturday.
"The international break is a good or bad thing depending on the last result really. At the time you think after riding high after a win against a promotion favourite you don’t want a break and you want the next game to come quickly. On the positive side it has allowed us to get some work in on the players but I can say that the players have been fantastic. It is easy and I can remember when I was a player to lose focus when you don’t have a game on Saturday but they have worked hard and mentally it was important that they also got some rest time with a lot of games coming up."
