Rovers official website met up with development squad first year pro striker Alex Peterson.

We met up with him ahead of his next game for the Central league side next week against Hartlepool United next Tuesday (KO 2pm Cantley Park).

Alex how have you settled in as a first year pro?

“It’s been really good and everything I hope for really. It’s been good getting involved with the training with the senior players. I love being a professional and all the benefits you get from it especially after being in the youth team. As a professional we get lots more done for us than I did as a youth player”

With the club now having a Central League side, you are now getting game in?

It’s a big improvement on last year because we played friendlies but you cannot beat playing in a proper league where results count. You now get competitive games, which helps us develop and get chance to play with and against senior players. It allows us to build up match fitness and we get a chance to impress the gaffer as well. It’s also good to work with Brian Flynn who has worked with the best both at club level and with the Welsh international set up. Brian does some training with the development players like me to work on technical ability such as passing and working as a team as well as an individual."

You have your next game next Tuesday here at Cantley Park?

“We did really well when we played up there at Billingham Town, getting a 1-0 win. They are a good team and have a few older players than we have, so will be a good test. We wont know who is in from the first team yet to join us younger players. This can be difficult and you can see from the results they are mixed as we have players coming in and out from the first team, which gives you differing styles and players to play alongside. I know we have a good team, just need to click now and push on.”
