Theo Reflects On Reading

21 October 2013

Rovers Player caught up with Saturday's Rovers goal scorer Theo Robinson, who has just got back from International duty with Jamaica.

What did you make of the game last Saturday?

"I think the score line did not give an accurate view of the game because I feel we performed well for most of the game. We did not start well but the gaffer changed tactic by bringing me on and it got us back in the game. Even when they got back in front at 2-1 we felt we could get something from the game."

You scored the goal by getting into a good position.

"It was a good free kick from Duffy and when the keeper saved it I just thought get the rebound, which every striker likes to do. When we came out in the second half we were firing on all cylinders, so we felt we could get back but by losing Rob at the time we had used all our subs killed us off especially when the third goal went in. Losing Rob was a key point in the game because they scored again which killed our momentum we had built up. Even when we had ten men we did not want to sit back and let them come at us as we still felt we could score."

You are just back from Jamaica duty. How did it go?

"Unfortunately we did not qualify for the World Cup finals but it was a great experience for me. I came on against the USA where there was a great atmosphere. I played against Honduras last week in our last game at home in Jamaica but I played on the left wing. It was a good experience and three of the players were from Reading, so I met them again on Saturday. They gave me a bit of banter after the game as I was not very happy but it showed the good spirit we have internationally."
