The evening of 12th September saw the annual Academy Induction Evening held at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Returning players from our Under 9 to Under 16 age groups attended along with their family as well as a host of new players.
The evening started with a welcome and introduction to the Club from Head of Youth, Paul Wilson, outlining the Club’s roles and responsibilities to the players but also what we expect of our players and their parents. For the incoming Under 9’s and new starters this will be the first taste of life in Doncaster’s Academy.
The second presentation was by James Roberts of Pro Football Support, who carries out consult work for the Club with regards diet & nutrition, psychology and the running of each players tailored individual fitness/sports science programme.
In addition all players will receive their players’ handbook with information they will require over the season plus sections for the players to complete themselves aiding them in understanding the expectations from us and from themselves.
For the new starters this will be when they sign their first registration with the Club and officially become a member of our Academy adding to the number of players who are proud to play for Doncaster Rovers.
Head of Youth, Paul Wilson, said “It was nice to see so many players and parents attend our annual meeting. It gives everyone a good opportunity to explain what is expected from the club, the coach’s the players and the parents. James Roberts from Pro Football Support came in to explain the new sports science programme that the club have brought in to improve the players’ agility, balance and co-ordination, strength and power of each individual player. It is something that the club are very involved with and we know that working with the lads at an early age can improve them at a later development age.”
